Getting Started

I've decided to try a Whole30 plan for the month of March.  I've hit that glorious age where weight just sticks to me like glue!  I had surgery last year and that threw me off my running routine.  The weight has crept on while I wasn't running.  When I did start running again last summer, this darn weight is just stuck!  I figured a change in diet might help just clean things up and get me back on track.

The basis for the diet can be found on the Whole30.com website.

Basically, none of the following for March:

  • No sugar or any other sweetener like honey, stevia, maple syrup, etc.
  • No alcohol.  (I love a nightly glass of red wine....this one is probably going to be the hardest!)
  • No grains (wheat, corn, rice, oatmeal)
  • No legumes (this will also be hard...no beans...but green beans and sugar snap peas are OK!)
  • No dairy (ugh....there goes my daily yogurt and cheese fix)
  • No carrageenan, MSG or sulfates
  • No baked goods or junk food

I've spent some time planning out meals for the week and putting together a shopping list.
